Dear Ms. Gray:
As a follow-up to a recent phone conversation with your associate, I learned that there may be opportunities for employment within your organization, and I am writing to express my interest. I have not only a clear understanding of the problems leading to addictive behavior but also the prerequisite education to work in alcohol and drug counseling. I sincerely want to help others who are experiencing the same horrors I went through as an alcoholic and cocaine addict. My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, for which I need to accumulate 6,000 hours of practical experience under the direction of certified counselors.
Currently, I am a counselor assistant at Straight and Narrow, a psycho-social rehabilitative agency, where I have begun to develop my professional and clinical skills through work with groups of substance abusers in recovery. I am considered by others to be self-determined, enthusiastic, and reliable, with the ability to adjust well in a new environment.
My resume is enclosed for your review. If your rehabilitative staff requirements allow for continued training with a certified counselor, I would like to learn more about the opportunity. I will be calling you within a week to determine your interest and perhaps arrange for a time when we can meet.
Very truly yours,
Rony Conrad
