Dear Mr. Michel:
I am writing to you and sending my resume at the suggestion of Dr. William Jarvis, who recently spoke to you regarding my potential for a field position with the County Prosecutor's Office. I would be interested in exploring the possibilities for employment in a criminal investigative unit such as narcotics, homicide, robbery, arson, or fraud.
In 2000 I was honorably discharged from active duty, having served for three years in the U.S. Army. I am currently in the Army Reserves and also have four years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician. As you will see from my resume, these experiences as well as my volunteer work with urban youth have trained and prepared me for any challenge requiring a physically fit and highly disciplined individual. Because I grew up in a tough neighborhood, I learned street survival skills early in life. I am not intimidated by anyone, and have mastered the art of unarmed self-defense in addition to the proficient use of firearms and other weapons.
I feel I could contribute significantly to the law enforcement efforts in your district by taking an active part in the thorough investigation of alleged criminal offenses. I would appreciate the chance to meet with you personally to discuss how my skills and experience could best be utilized to meet your needs.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Hennery Smith
