Dear Mr. Hall:
During a recent conversation with Paul Browning, he suggested that I contact you about my interest in a procurement position in your department. Although you may not have an opening at this time, I would welcome the opportunity to learn more about your procurement function and industry.
As you may know from Paul, I recently sold my business and am enthusiastic about the prospect of new challenges. In anticipation of the business closure, I have taken the time to evaluate my career interests, skills and strengths to determine my options.
Procurement was one of my primary responsibilities and a function I enjoyed tremendously. As a result, I have decided to pursue a search in this field. Briefly, my qualifications include a bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience in supplier/broker relations, cost-effective contract negotiations and managing a multimillion-dollar purchasing volume.
Well-organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, I am confident in my ability to add value to an organization. My conversation with Paul reaffirmed my interest in your company, and I look forward to meeting with you to explore the possibilities in relationship to your department's needs.
Sincerely,
Mather Smith
