Dear Hiring Manager:
As a recent graduate with a background in psychology, extensive child care experience, and a strong interest in special education, I would like to be considered for a Teacher Assistant position at your school. I learned of your opening through one of my professors at Kearney University. She indicated that she thought I would be a good match for your needs.
As you can see from my enclosed résumé, I have more than eight years of experience as a nanny, providing day, overnight, and extended care to children. Currently balancing the needs of three different families, I care for six children on both a scheduled and as-needed basis. Among my charges is a special-needs child, an autistic boy whom I provide with ten hours of therapy each week.
With this background, the teacher assistant position seems particularly suited to my interests and strengths. I truly love working with children and enjoy being involved in their development. As a nanny, I earned a reputation as a responsible, caring, and effective employee. Energetic and organized, I also have a wealth of patience and a strong desire to learn and grow. With these traits, I have proven to be a valued employee in the past. I am confident that I will be an asset to you as well.
I would be pleased to have the opportunity to discuss future employment and look forward to speaking with you. Feel free to contact me at the address and phone number listed above. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Thomas Dickens
