Dear Ms. Gray:
It was with great interest that I read your recent ad in the Athens Messenger for a Travel Consultant, and I would like to be considered a serious candidate for this position. My resume is enclosed for your review and consideration.
Simply stated, travel has been my passion for more than 15 years! Even though my educational and career paths have taken me in a different direction up to this point, I have recently decided to follow my heart and pursue a career in the travel industry. Because of my desire to work in travel, I enrolled in the Travel Associate Training Program through Career Quest and will complete it next month.
Throughout my career I have utilized an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people from all walks of life. My counseling skills enable me to identify and respond appropriately to client needs. In addition, the time I spent as a Customer Service Manager allowed me to develop and enhance skills in sales, public speaking, event planning and database management skills that I believe would also be invaluable in your Travel Consultant position.
With a passion for travel, successful career experience in sales and current industry training, I am confident I would be an asset to your travel agency. Feel free to contact me to set up an interview or to answer any questions you may have regarding my background and experience. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
